A Vakok és Gyengénlátók Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg Megyei Egyesülete – együttműködésben a Nyíregyházi Egyetem Esély­egyenlőségi Csoportjával – a felsőoktatási intézmény „A” épületében a lépcsők széleit kontrasztos jelzőcsíkkal látta el. A fekete lépcsőszél biztonságosabb közlekedést eredményez az intézmény alig vagy gyengén látó hallgatói számára, akik jelenleg hárman vannak. Az akadálymentesítés költségét az egyesület fedezte, közhasznú tevékenység keretében.

Nem az első munka volt, amit közösen végeztek el az egyesület munkatársai és a felsőoktatási intézmény dolgozói: 2012-ben az oktatótermek és az irodák mellett helyeztek el Braille-írással is ellátott ajtótáblákat, s akkor a „B” épületbe felvezető lépcsősor széleit is ellátták kontrasztos festéssel.
